I know it may not seem this way, especially when your dog has just destroyed your favorite and most expensive expensive shoes in the closet, but we should expect and WANT our dogs to chew.
Chewing helps strengthen your dog’s jaw muscles, for one thing, which is obviously a plus and something they need.
But…
When our dogs chew things we don’t want them to, THAT’S when it becomes a challenge we need to take care of.
Below I’ve posted a video for you showing a quick and easy way to solve your dog chewing problems. But before we get to it, I want to point out a few things to keep in mind.
ALL of my training, and teaching how to stop a dog from chewing is no exception, is based on positive training methods.
What we want to do is to teach, not scold.
We want to teach our dogs the right thing to do, rather than constantly scolding them for doing the wrong things.
This is because “NO!” doesn’t teach. It only teaches your dog that he gets yelled at for doing something, but it doesn’t offer an alternative behavior that gives him the one thing he wants more than anything else, which is your praise.
I show you exactly how to master this type of training in my full online course (you can get the audio portion of the full course and try the whole thing out free for a full month if you’d like by clicking here) but I wanted to bring up the concept here so you understand how important it is.
Okay, now that you have some background, let’s take a look at some easy solutions for dog chewing problems…
